I’m watching the Red Sox hold a 4-0 lead over the Yankees in Game 6 of the ALCS, and I got to thinking: Wouldn’t it be cool if the Cardinals came back and swept the last two from the Astros and met the Sox in what would have to be one of the most exciting World Series ever?
Then, being the Chicago boy that I am, I realized that such a matchup would probably be decided by The Cub Factor.
Picture this: Game 7 of the World Series, bottom of the 12th inning, ex-Cub Julian Tavares of the Cards pitching to ex-Cub Mark Bellhorn of the Red Sox. Ex-Cub Bellhorn catches a hanging sinker from ex-Cub Tavares and drives it to deep left field with what would be the game and Series-winning run.
And just as the ball is about to clear the Green Monster, an angelic trump is heard, Jesus appears in the clouds, and the world as we know it comes to an end.
