Progressive cognitive dissonance

Another day, another story of a former supporter of Obamacare:

Cathy Wagner says she isn’t political and has never written a lawmaker, much less the president, but with Obamacare she felt compelled. […]

Wagner and her husband retired early. She was a nurse for 35 years and championed Obamacare, until she received a letter from her insurance company saying it was canceling her policy.

“I was really shocked … all of my hopes were sort of dashed,” Wagner said. “’Oh my gosh President Obama, this is not what we hoped for, it’s not what we were told.’ “

She was shocked further to learn that for the same coverage she would pay 35 percent more and have a higher deductible.

It’s too bad she and her husband are in this situation, but seriously — anyone who didn’t see this coming hasn’t paid attention for the last five years.

Progressives, how has he deceived thee?  Let us count the ways:  Closing Gitmo; cutting the deficit in half; ending “Bush’s wars”; giving us Americans five days to review legislation passed by Congress before he signs it; eliminating income tax for seniors earning less than $50,000 a year; and, oh yeah, “no more illegal wiretapping of American citizens.”

I could probably dig up more if I was so inclined, but these seemed to be the least politically charged.

NBC has reported, shock surprise, that the administration has known for several years that millions of Americans would lose their health insurance even as President Obama continued to promise they could keep it.

That harsh mechanical grinding you hear in the distance is the sound of millions of Obama supporters trying to force inconvenient facts into their rose-colored version of reality.
