Ringtime on stage

For a brief detour into something completely different: The Coles County Barbershop Chorus, with which I sing, performs today at the 40th annual Amish Country Cheese Festival in Arthur, Illinois.

We sing at 2:00PM on the main stage. The chorus will feature performances by chapter quartets Coles County Connection, Sentimental Journey, Highway 16 Four, and my quartet, Ringtime.

Our song list today features a healthy dose of gospel, including a Gaithers song that, while simple, conveys a powerful message: “Loving God, Loving Each Other”. Our quartet is featured on “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” (and I get a brief solo at the end).

We all need to set down the tech and enjoy “analogue” connections from time to time. I look forward to this; it’s a blessing to get together with my brothers in harmony and lift our voices to sing His praises.

If you’re in central Illinois, find your way to the village of Arthur, on Illinois Route 133 about ten miles west of I-57 off the Arcola exit, and then follow the signs.
