My perspective on the Future Congress in Branson this weekend is a little unique. It occurred to me, as I spotted Chuck Missler in the hotel lobby, that there are distinct parallels between this gathering and a barbershop quartet contest and convention.
As with your typical quartet competition, the Future Congress has drawn together a diverse group of people who share a passion for something that most people think is, well, quaint at best. And there is a similar thrill to meeting somebody prominent in the field, whether it’s Dr. Missler, G. Edward Griffin, or somebody who’s sung in a world champion barbershop quartet.
I don’t think there are any other members of the Barbershop Harmony Society here this weekend, but I could probably pull together a pickup gospel quartet if I tried.
