Have the president’s handlers completely isolated him from public opinion?
President Obama on Friday kept up the pressure on Republicans to agree to revenue increases in a deal to raise the debt ceiling, claiming 80 percent of the public supports Democrats’ demand for tax increases.
“The American people are sold,” Obama said. “The problem is members of Congress are dug in ideologically.”
Can you honestly think of any time in American history when 80% of the public approved of a tax increase? For schools, fire protection districts, libraries — anything?
We can’t get 60% of us to agree on anything! Well, except for the 69% of us voters who oppose raising the debt ceiling. (And the similar percentages that opposed bailing out Wall Street, and Obamacare…)
Either the president is blinded by arrogance or his staff is keeping him away from the “Internets”. I guarantee you this part of Flyoverland is overwhelmingly opposed to raising taxes to pay for more social engineering and nation building.
