Congress has declared war on the American people. That’s the only way this makes any sense:
Americans would be fined up to $3,800 for failing to buy health insurance under a plan that circulated in Congress on Tuesday as President Barack Obama met Democratic leaders to search for ways to salvage his health care overhaul.
This is the MODERATE proposal? Punishing people who can’t afford health insurance by fining them?
And someone please explain this math to me:
[Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont.], meeting with a small group of fellow senators, promoted a plan that would guarantee coverage for nearly all Americans at a cost to taxpayers of under $900 billion over 10 years.
Some experts consider that a relative bargain because the country now spends about $2.5 trillion a year on health care.
“Some experts” must be flaming idiots! How do you convince health care providers to offer $2.5 worth of health care for $90 billion? Isn’t that like getting a $25,000 car for $900? What’s the catch?
[I]t would require hefty fees on insurers, drug companies and others in the health care industry to help pay for it.
Ah, right. THAT’S gonna work. The insurance companies and Big Pharma will just roll over and take a $1.5 trillion annual hit to their bottom line with no change in the quality of care!
They’re trying to kill us. That’s the only explanation.
