Just saw Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson on TV describing how a bi-partisan committee went over the proposed stimulus bill “line by line, dollar by dollar” to trim the fat. So why is the Senate bill now bigger than the version passed by the House?
This explains a lot about what comes out of D.C. “Trimming the fat” is obviously code for “loading up the pork”.
And that helps to makes sense of Sen. Barbara Boxer’s statement on the Senate floor today that Americans need to spend a trillion dollars to get back to a balanced federal budget. What she really meant was, “We need to spend a trillion dollars to destroy the economy and finally exterminate that stubborn and annoying middle class.”
