Chicago has been a hothouse of corruption and mob activity for over a hundred years, so the arrest of Gov. Rod Blagojevich yesterday should have been no real surprise to the media. Neither should G-Rod’s desire to use his office to, among other things, place his wife on a corporate board or two for a six-figure salary.
Isn’t it interesting that the national media paid so little attention to Michelle Obama’s hiring to a couple of boards from which earning a half-million bucks a year once her husband’s political career took off? (She hired on at the U. of Chicago for about $122k, a salary that nearly tripled after Barack’s election to the U.S. Senate.)
It looks from here like Rod Blagojevich was busted for wanting to keep up with the Obamas.
