Israel’s northern neighbor: somewhere between Rock and Hard Place

SSNP logo

The new majority bloc government in Lebanon, led by incumbent Fouad Siniora, is dominated by the pro-Syrian SSNP, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party.

Note the party’s emblem at left, which is, let’s face it, a stylized swastika. (“No, no, we’re Social Nationalists, not National Socialists!”)

Now, consider that the opposition party in Lebanon is Hezbollah.

That’s not a place I’d want to be right now.
