Finally: An official Hoosier

It took a little longer than the state allows, but I finally have my Indiana driver’s license. I thought I’d have it a couple of weeks ago, but because I came from out of state, I had to provide an original copy of my birth certificate. All I had at the time was a copy.

It’s sort of a long homecoming. My dad was born in Terre Haute, and my ancestors and cousins have lived in Indiana continuously since 1817. So even though the first 45 years of my life we spent elsewhere, I’m back in the place where my more of my kin have lived for more years than any other place on this continent. And since most of Sharon’s family calls Indiana home, it’s about time.
