First Barack Obama tried to rewrite the Sermon on the Mount to change God’s view of homosexuality. Now Nancy Pelosi has apparently discerned in scripture some heretofore undisclosed command from God to worship the Earth:
“The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ On this Earth Day, and every day, let us honor the earth and our future generations with a commitment to fight climate change.”
It’s a sad comment on our society that more fuss is made over Jeremiah Wright dissing the United States than over Nancy Pelosi rewriting the very word of God.
At least Obama can be accused of simply choosing Bible verses (and ignoring others) to support a position he already holds rather than developing his position from the verses (taken in context).
Pelosi, as my wife points out in her excellent rant, has been using this fictitious verse to justify her Gaia-worship for years. And isn’t it funny that mixing “church” and state seems to be perfectly OK with progressives as long as the object of worship is anything other than Jesus Christ.
