Democratic strategist Donna Brazile told Wolf Blitzer the other night that she was offended by Bill Clinton’s attacks on Barack Obama’s record:
For him to go after Obama, using a fairy tale, calling him as he did last week. It’s an insult. And I will tell you, as an African-American, I find his tone and his words to be very depressing…. I think it’s time he helps Hillary talk about her message and not go down this road.
She’s probably not the only African-American to feel this way, which raises an interesting dynamic in the upcoming primaries: Criticism of Barack Obama’s resume may be interpreted by segments of the Democratic base as attacks on his race.
