Best Food in the World

If there is a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than sampling some of the best barbecued pork, chicken, and brisket on the planet, I don’t have enough imagination to invent it. Today, I had the honor of serving as a judge for a Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned barbecue contest.

We had two qualifiers for the American Royal Barbecue–the World Series of barbecue–competing today, so that “best on the planet” claim is not an overstatement.

It was a blast, and the proceeds for today’s event benefited the Brain Injury Association of Missouri.

The people involved in this sport, which is one of the fastest growing competitive events in the world, are laid back, friendly, and easy to like. Today was so much fun that I’ve signed up for a class next March to become a certified judge for the Kansas City Barbecue Society.
