Disregarding the fact that Michael Newdow is ate up, should Christians bother about keeping “In God We Trust” on American currency? I hadn’t realized until recently that the motto of 32nd degree Scottish Rite Freemasonry is “SPES MEA IN DEO EST” – “My hope is in God”.
Going back to the time of the country’s founding, we find that Masons had similar mottoes:
1677 – London Company of Masons – In Deo fiducia vinces – “In the Lord is all our Trust”
1717 – Premier Grand Lodge of Freemasons – In Deo fiducia vinces – “In the Lord is all our Trust”
Since all the rest of the symbolism on our money is Masonic, should we care whether the motto stays or goes?
