Foil Hat Alert

While I do not minimize the tragedy of lives cut short in yesterday’s hotel bombings in Amman, I have to wonder why the attack warranted 24/7 cable news coverage when, say, the earthquake in Bam, Iran, that killed 41,000 on Dec. 26, 2003, did not. And how is it that analysts on this side of the world were able to pin this on al-Zarqawi within hours?

Are we supposed to be afraid? Or did the recent arrest of British special forces troops in Basra, dressed as Arabs and carrying explosives, make me overly cynical?
