U.S. Getting Help in Afghanistan

Several developments in Afghanistan look significant:

The Defence Minister Robert Hill has left open the possibility of Australian troops returning to Afghanistan. Senator Hill says Australia’s overseas commitments remain high, but there is now more flexibility because the peacekeeping mission in East Timor has ended and forces have been reduced in Solomon Islands.

The U.K. is reassigning troops to Afghanistan, too:

The strength of British forces in Iraq is to be reduced, while more troops are to be sent to fight the Taliban in Afghanistan, the head of military operations said yesterday.

And so are the Dutch:
