Why Dying Pigs in Korea Matter

The pigs are dying from a strain of human virus created from the Spanish flu–a virus that doesn’t exist in nature. Somebody took the virus from its natural habitat, a laboratory freezer, and inserted it into the pigs.

Accident? Bioweapon test? Terror event? We just don’t know.

Friday evening, I interviewed Dr. Henry Niman, an expert on emerging diseases and the man who first sounded the alarm on this growing threat, about the outbreak of WSN/33 in Korea. You can hear the interview in MythArc Radio #11, which is now online and ready for your download (55 minutes, about 18MB mp3).
