It’s difficult to keep an accurate count of the victims when the government of Angola may be fudging the numbers and the citizens are terrified of the health care workers. (No wonder–the first survivor out of 259 cases was just announced. Going to the hospital must feel like a death sentence.)
Comes word now of a handful of suspected Marburg cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the east of Angola. In the absence of hard data, it’s early to send out warnings, but it appears the situation is far from under control.
