I knew Sharon’s book signing was in trouble when we left the house for church yesterday morning: Blue skies, bright sunshine, and a predicted high in the low to mid 70s.
Dead on. The coordinator for Barnes & Noble was as nice and helpful as could be, but you can’t fight the first gorgeous Sunday afternoon of spring. We sat for an hour and a half, and the only people who wandered back into the author’s area were just looking for a place to sit down.
Lesson learned: Book signings do more for the credibility of bookstores than they do to promote authors’ books.
