The Bradford pear trees in Saint Louis exploded over the weekend like so many vanilla ice cream cones popping up along the roadways. The dogwoods, redbuds, and cherry trees are struggling to catch up while the crocuses have captured the low ground.
Buds are swelling on the maples and oaks, and it’s only a matter of days before I open the door some morning to find my car covered with pollen, as though some oversized Tinkerbell had sprinkled it with greenish-yellow pixie dust.
For those of us with serious allergy issues, it is the best of times; it is the worst of times. Antihistamine: Don’t leave home without it.
