How can a loving God allow something that kills so many innocent people? David at A Physicist‘s Perspective has written a thoughtful piece to address that difficult question:

There are two errors the Bible teaches we should avoid: We can err by thinking that God did not ordain this event (i.e. it was just an accident, or Satan accomplished it), or we can err by being angry with God for the event.
