True Racial Reconciliation

That’s the theme of this week’s Homespun Symposium:

What do you believe is necessary for true racial reconciliation to take place in American society? Does your solution involve coercive governmental remedies? Do you believe that Churches have an important role to play in this process?

Short answer? The Second Coming.

Longer answer: It can only be achieved through churches, and only if churches begin to preach–and live–according to the words between the covers of the Holy Bible.

Look, government intervention short of an Assyrian-style forced relocation of everybody isn’t going to force people to get along. And the government won’t implement any solution with a chance of working, anyway. There are too many iconoclastic politicians, white and black, who’ve built bases of power on groups of people who are convinced that they’re owed something by somebody else.

Until people take the command to “love thy neighbor” seriously, regardless of race or creed, there will be division in the land. People being what we are, I don’t see that happening before Christ makes His return.
