Josh Marshall can’t understand it.
One thing that does seem very clear tonight–at least if what I’m hearing from the exits is true–is that the much-ballyhooed youth vote simply did not show up. Simple as that.
James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal offers this possible explanation for the unexpectedly poor turnout of young voters:
You’re not allowed to vote unless you’ve passed your 18th birthday. In order to have any birthdays at all, you have to have been born. And over the past 30 years or so, many Americans have ended up not being born.
Is it possible the Democratic Party has aborted itself out of power?
