Only four groups of kids came to the house last night. That’s quite a change from the first few years Sharon and I were in this home, when we’d see upwards of thirty or forty.
Last year it was down to ten or so, and last night a steady rain kept all but the hardiest at home.
As a Christian, I’ve come to believe that Halloween is a holiday we can do without. Still, the parent in me feels a pang of regret at the fading away of a rite of childhood.
