I downloaded the newest version of the Firefox web browser this morning at breakfast (doesn’t everyone read the web at breakfast?). It is sweet.
Popup blocking built in, tabbed browsing, a high-powered search toolbar, and now with RSS integration. Plus the extensions, which add all kinds of functionality Internet Explorer never hinted at.
I have a weather forecast in the status bar, an Ad Blocker screening out annoying banner ads, and an option on the right-click menu to format posts to web forums with BBcode. And since it’s cross-platform, I can use it on the Win 2000 box at the office and on my OS X PowerBook at home.
Best of all, it’s free.
I’m going to order a couple of t-shirts to help the cause in a small way. This is a web browser that’s worth paying for.
