Hillary Snubbed by DNC

This is a very intersting development. After the Kerry campaign and the chairman of the DNC convention, Bill Richardson, promised that Hillary Clinton would have a prime-time speaking slot, word comes that she’s being relegated to an opening night ceremony featuring all of the female Democratic senators.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) – The former chairwoman of the New York State Democratic Party on Wednesday called it ‘a total outrage’ and ‘very stupid’ that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has not been offered a prominent speaking role at the Democratic National Convention.

‘It’s a slap in the face, not personally for Hillary Clinton, but for every woman in the Democratic Party and every woman in America,’ said Judith Hope, a major party fund-raiser.

Ignoring the fact that not “every woman in America” sees Hillary as the icon of their political ideals, this spotlights what has to be a rift in the Democratic Party. My guess is that John Kerry didn’t want to be upstaged. Hillary is a stronger candidate than Kerry, and it looks like she’s being shunted aside.
