A July Surprise Ahead?

No, not the Cubs breaking out of their five-game losing streak and putting the Cardinals in their place–which is somewhere south of the Cubbies in the NL Central.

The New Republic reports that the government of Pakistan has been told to capture or kill Osama bin Laden or one of his top deputies by the end of the month:

‘The last ten days of July deadline has been given repeatedly by visitors to Islamabad and during [ul-Haq’s] meetings in Washington.’ Says [National Security Council spokesman Sean] McCormack: ‘I’m aware of no such comment.’

But according to this ISI (Pakistani intelligence–DG) official, a White House aide told [ISI Director Lieutenant General Ehsan] ul-Haq last spring that ‘it would be best if the arrest or killing of [any] HVT (“High Value Target”–DG) were announced on twenty-six, twenty-seven, or twenty-eight July’–the first three days of the Democratic National Convention in Boston.”

So when it happens, act surprised, okay?
