Good For Laura

This took more guts than the cheap shots being leveled against Ronald Reagan by the more crass members of the political left:

Laura Bush, whose father died from Alzheimer’s, said on Wednesday she admired Nancy Reagan’s devotion to former President Ronald Reagan until his death but could not back her call for relaxation of stem cell research restrictions.

Look, if you don’t accept that a fertilized egg or embryo is human, you must concede that it becomes human. When that takes place, exactly, is something no one can say for certain. Rather than err and destroy thousands upon thousands of future men and women, why not restrict stem cell research to those cells that can be obtained without destroying a life–adult stem cells, and those collected from the umbilical cords of newborns?
