The Iraqis Revolt

I supported the war in Iraq because Saddam is a monster. But the violence that’s erupted there has me thinking.

Maybe the Russians’ experience in Afghanistan and especially Chechnya, where Russian troops have killed something like 10% of the Chechen population, should be a warning to us: It’s impossible to govern a country where people would rather die than submit.
