ABC News sees fit to focus five pages on its web site today to a self-proclaimed Christian terrorist:
An anti-abortion activist, calling for a new wave of violence against clinics and doctors, is following the example of violent Islamic fundamentalists, telling those who share his views to become ‘Christian terrorists’ and promising them a reward in Heaven.
You have to read through the article to find that Chuck Spingola’s so-called Army of God has no organization, and those who monitor fringe groups say Spingola probably has no more than a “few hundred” people who share his views. The name “Army of God” seems to have been used in connection with a number of threats to give the impression that the group behind the threats is bigger and more organized than it really is.
Let’s be clear: Anyone who advocates the use of murder, or even takes the law into his own hands, to achieve a political end is not a Christian. “Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19, NIV)
Calling these guys “Christians” is no more accurate than calling me a professional baseball player because I wear a Cubs cap.
