72-year-old Jun Yong-il was formally discharged from the South Korean army Monday. He escaped from North Korea last year after being held for 50 years following his capture during the Korean War.
Jun swam a river to escape into China last June. He was finally allowed to return to South Korea in December. He was captured by Chinese forces in July 1953, just days before a truce ended the war.
Get this: There may be as many as 300 more South Korean soldiers still alive and being held by the North.
