Polygamist Invokes Ruling on Gay Sex

You knew this was going to happen: A lawyer for a man in Utah with five wives has invoked the Supreme Court ruling decriminalizing gay sex to justify his client’s polygamy.

Tom Green was convicted of four counts of bigamy and one count of criminal nonsupport of his 30 children in August 2001. Besides his five-year sentence, he faces up to life in prison after being convicted of child rape for having sex with one of his five wives when she was 13.

It’s entirely possible a judge may agree that the right of privacy discovered by the Supreme Court applies in this case, too. It appears that Senator Rick Santorum may have been right, after all.
