It seems the Russians fooled attendees at the World Climate Change Conference in Moscow. It appears that Russia will not sign the Kyoto treaty for the same reasons Australia and the U.S. won’t. Kyoto is an economy-killer.
And without Russia, the UN protocol for reducing fossil fuel emissions can’t take legal effect.
The high point of the conference must have been when, according to Iaian Murray, the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences said the only people who would be affected by the abandonment of Kyoto “would be several thousand people who make a living attending conferences on global warming.”
