Observation From the Sales Desk
There is an inverse relationship between the length of a company’s name and the length of its purchase order numbers.
The really big companies have short names: IBM, AT&T, GE, GM, etc. Their purchase order numbers usually take up the first page of the fax.
Small companies trying to sound big have long names; for example, International Piping and Oilfield Supply and Fabrication, Incorporated. And their PO numbers are always like, “Verbal/Joe”.
